I have been working as a paralegal in the clinical negligence department at MWSL since July 2017. The client's that need the assistance of our clinical negligence team have often had their lives changed through injury and there is nothing more motivating and rewarding than assisting these client’s and helping them regain their quality of life as far as we can.
On a day to day basis I communicate with client’s and experts regularly. Since starting at MWSL I have undertaken a wide range of tasks including attending conference with counsel, drafting letters of instruction and letters of claim and assisting in preparing a schedule of loss and special damage. I have also had the opportunity to take a witness statement from a client and draft the same and I am hugely grateful for the responsibility I have been given so early on.
The cases that I have been assisting on have ranged from birth injury claims to fatal claims. I have taken a wealth of new client enquiries which have exposed me to a diverse range of personal injury and clinical negligence issues and it has been very helpful in assisting me in risk assessing and quantifying claims not to mention developing my medical terminology.
I began my Training Contract in March 2018 and I am excited to continue learning and developing my skills in clinical negligence before undertaking seats in two other of the firm’s departments. I hope to qualify as a clinical negligence solicitor in March 2020.
