Profile

I am a Partner in the Personal Injury Department, based in our New Addington Office though I deal with clients throughout the country. I have over 14 years experience of dealing with nothing but Claimant personal injury claims.

I am passionate about my area of law and doing the very best job for my client. I will always want to meet with my client when appropriate as I want my client to feel comfortable and to understand the legal process.

Part of my job is to find the appropriate experts, and right barrister for the case as well as ensuring rehabilitation and regular interim payments are available when possible. Defendants fight cases and in cases where liability is an issue it is important to ensure that the right evidence is obtained as quickly as possible so as to ensure court proceedings are issued without delay to keep pressure on Defendants and to resolve the matter as quickly as possible for the benefit of my client.

I have been instructed in a wide variety of cases from relatively straightforward soft tissue injury cases arising from road traffic accidents to complex, high value and multi party claims (including group actions).

I primarily deal with higher value, more complex claims, sometimes involving a unique point of law. I am currently instructed by clients who have suffered spinal and brain injuries as well as clients who have lost limbs. I have particularly experience and an interest of chronic pain cases including Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) as well as those cases with a psychiatric element. These types of cases are often viewed sceptically by insurers and their solicitors and it can be especially distressing for clients where fraud has been alleged or inferred by insurers and their solicitors. Among my current caseload there are claims valued in excess of £1,000,000.

I feel it is important to not only seek suitable compensation for my clients but also to ensure their rehabilitation needs, both treatment and home adaptations are dealt with as well as ensuring financial support through interim payments when possible.

I am currently instructed by a significant number of victims of the Croydon Tramlink disaster. Many of my clients have suffered significant psychological injuries including Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as well as physical injuries, some life-changing. It has been vital in these cases to arrange rehabilitation quickly and ensure regular interim payments.

I also have experience in dealing with injuries arising from accidents on board ship and aboard aircraft where there are different limitation periods and questions of jurisdiction arise.

I am regularly asked by clients to take over claims from other firms where they have not received the level of service required or where the firm / fee earner lacks the experience to deal with a particular type of case.

Recent Success

  • Claim involving a scaffolder who injured his shoulder in an accident. He was unable to return to work. The claim settled for in excess of £300,000.
  • Claim involving a cyclist who was knocked off his bike on a roundabout by a car travelling at speed and which failed to give way. The Claimant suffered spinal injuries which restricted his employment prospects in the future. The claim settled for £165,000.

Other Cases of interest

  • Employers Liability claim where the Claimant developed Complex Regional Pain Syndrome. Liability was disputed by two Defendants. The case settled for £500,000.00 (net of contributory negligence) at mediation.
  • Linkwise Litigation (Toxic Sofas). I successfully argued that my client's injury did not fit the matrix devised by the lead solicitors and I achieved a higher award for my client than he would otherwise have achieved.
