Partner - Private Client Services
I am a specialist Private Client lawyer. I mainly advise clients on tax planning and asset protection, obtaining probate and estate administration, trust creation and administration, and Wills and Powers of Attorney.
My role is to help my clients make the best of their assets when they are alive, and to provide security for their loved ones after they are gone. I have always had a broad client base as the same legal principles apply to everyone, whoever they are in the community.
It is common for clients to keep coming back to me to review their legal and financial plans over time, in particular as they reach milestones in life. This has helped me to build a good working relationship across families and generations, which I find rewarding both professionally and personally.
My career began in Guildford where I trained, qualifying in 1996, and I have been based in Guildford for the last six years after a period of working in London and the South East.
I read Law with French at the University of Birmingham, spending a year at l’Université de Limoges, and took my professional exams at what is now the University of Law.
I have a particular interest in complex estates including those involving trusts, foreign assets and tax planning such as post death variations.
I live in Surrey with my wife and three children, and I enjoy walking, rugby and natural history.
Invited to assist as an Associate Tutor in Trusts at the University of Surrey during 2015, occasional lectures and presentations to students at both the University of Surrey and the University of Law, Guildford.
