Each year MW holds the Advocacy Competition, an event which has become the highlight of the training calendar and is a mandatory part of the training and development of all Paralegals and Trainees.
The standards set during the competition are extremely high and the final is held at a prestigious, but mystery location. The competition takes place over three rounds in consecutive weeks in May each year. Initial rounds are held at our Head Office and in 2013 the Semi-Finals were held at Croydon Crown Court, with the Final being held at the Royal Courts of Justice. Both the Semi-Final and Final are filmed and a number of dignitaries are invited to attend to watch the event.
Although hotly contested and fun to take part in, the competition is set in a training environment where participants are given open and honest feedback. Performances are closely analysed and the aim is to provide constructive feedback that can be put to good use. It is a fantastic learning opportunity which is enjoyable and provides advocacy skills, confidence building and tips that will stand our trainees in good stead for the future.
